Man I wanted it to be 2013 Elivette…that’s pretty funny. Nah, you are probably right. But damn it would have been funny and the specs are surprisingly close.
ChatGPT is pretty confident its Cain Five
I think ChatGPT is right: https://www.cainfive.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/08/2013_Cain_Five_Factsheet.pdf
@Hughes_D your wish has been granted.
Bought 3 bottles. Never heard of it before. How is it?
The blend matches the Cain Five spec sheet for 2013.
CT comments remind me of the discussion of the 2013 Elivette. Considering the shipping issues, easy pass with all the Elivettes in the cellar.
Blend matches perfectly as does the Decanter 96 and Suckling 95 scores. Plus FIVE is bolded in the prose.
Probably Cain in that I can’t find a better fit. The only off thing is the line about “accepting his current post” — the 40 years is right, but Jerry Cain AFAIK and his wife bought the place, they’re not employees. I know they sold a few years ago so by a stretch….
… and those Elivettes yet to arrive, due to the shipping issues, superimposed with radio silence from customer service.
This would legitimately be the funniest thing they could do
They’re still selling 2013 elivette through the hidden page.
I think it would make for an interesting side-by-side tasting.
Note, it looks as though decanter previously rated 2013 Cain Five lower in 2018. This is from K&L:
93 ## Decanter
Review Date: 01/2018
51% Cabernet Sauvignon, supported by 22% Merlot, 14% Cabernet Franc, 8% Malbec and 5% Petit Verdot. On the nose this is unsurprisingly youthful, with rich, dense black fruit aromas that are opulent without being overblown. Initially rich and silky, this also shows a good deal of spice and even tar. Despite ample ripe tannins and fair acidity that give good structure, this has a graceful character. Long finish. (SB)
lol Chat GPT suggested to me that it’s Chappellet. The never discounted before line means it can’t be Elivette, but obviously my mind went there first lol.
Its Cain. The bolded 5, the “biblical” reference, and “Able” at the end
$39 with free shipping is tempting, but for a wine I’ve never had I probably do not need it…
Last sentence gives it away. “Get some…while you are ABLE!”
Also the details line up with this. “The Decanter interview: Chris Howell,” Decanter Magazine, January 2018 - Cain Vineyard & Winery
In for two. But with the free shipping on a single bottle, it’s like they are saying that there are more Cain offers to come…..
Free shipping on a single bottle makes this an easy buy.
Honestly, if they do a Cain marathon day I might be in trouble (tho I’d like to see that $29 price point…maybe a $20-25 Concept?)
ugh, in for ONE and only ONE
lol
In for two but was tempted to go for more.
