LastBottleWines.com (Last Bottle Wines) Deal Discussion Thread (Part 2)

Bought a single 2004. The Mrs. is irritated over another Elivette day. She said “just say no”. Yep, that’s not going to happen :joy:

I also grabbed a Jodie Laide North Coast and a 2019 and 2021 Stolo Creekside Syrah. Inexpensive bottles that look pretty decent.

I’ve had other iterations of Jolie-Laide syrahs in the past, earlier vintages of north coast and Halcon. The style is not too over the top or modern. Definitely riper than the old world but manageable. 17$ was worth taking the flyer.

Slight thread drift question, but has anyone tried SMV’s Resurrection cuvée? Am trying to put a vertical tasting together with my coworkers but need a younger vintage than 2019. Wasn’t sure if it’s a huge departure from the Elivette vintages

I’ll buy more Elivette if it less than $30 (750ml)

This. I bought some at $29, then went back for more and they raised the price to $39. Definitely annoyed.

the JL needs at least few years in the cellar at this point, for those wondering

Composition appears different, lists just cab and merlot where most elivette had some combination of franc, petite, and malbec

$29 was good.
Whatever the market will bear.
We’ll see if it sells here or later is $29.
Still a good price.
Not tempted.

Depending on the vintage wasn’t the pricing always different? I thought I saw $29 for some, $35 for others and $39 for others.

For those who have tried multiple vintages of Elivette, how would you rank them? I have only tried the 2013, I thought it was very good, but not great…I have the 2015 and 2018 as well but have not tried those yet

those vintages need more time. 20 years on these is the sweet spot.

It was different depending on the vintage, but an example is the $29 I initially paid for the '16, then when I went back, they charged $38.

I had the 2012 and thought it was delicious. I thought it might improve with a few years but I’m not certain that’s true.

Another poster mentioned that he had the 2012 and didn’t feel it needed any additional time.

Paul,
The younger vintages are good but just not ready so they are ranked lower. Only one I did not really like was 2013 but I will let the remaining bottles sit for another 5 years+. 09 was very nice. Really happy with all purchases. For me, I would say all years are good but I prefer the $29 price point for 11-19 over the $39 price point for 00-10. LB spoiled us with the $29 price point. Tons of recent reviews on Cellartracker to give you an idea of what vintages would be most appealing.

Off the top of my head, the '04, '05, '12 , '09 and '06, in that order, were all really good and drinking well. I thought the '19 and '17 were way too young for me. The '07, '11 and '15 were very good, but a hair behind the five listed above.

Grabbed an 04 to share with my best friend.

Had the same conversation myself haha

Bit on 3 bottles of the ‘04 Elivette out of curiosity.

That '04 offer has been up for a long time…
