Large N.Rhone/Loire and other collection on Winebid

Thanks to everyone who’s shown interest in the lot so far. About two-thirds of the bottles were sold within the first two weeks.

There are still some excellent bottles left, particularly the back vintages from Allemand ('97, 98, 04, 05), Benetière (09, 11), Barge, Levet, and a good selection of Baudry.

Below is the list of remaining bottles from my consignment. Several people have reached out with questions on provenance, storage, and tasting impressions — feel free to get in touch if you’d like more details.

Happy bidding.

WOW

I’ve been off WineBid for some time, but you swooped me back in! Definitely bidding on those Joguet Franc de Pied. A personal fave. Will peruse more for sure!

You were the person I thought of when I consigned those Joguets. Lots of other N. Rhones for you to consider as well. And now that you’ve commented, shamelessly paging @Zachary_Ross for my Barge bottles!

I’ve never seen so much Barge!!!

For anyone that doesn’t have any or much of it, I strongly encourage you to buy the Levet. Quite a collection. And delish out of mags!

I just also bid on the 1995 Joguet Chene Vert. Love this specific bottling.

Yup, sad to see them go, but still have a lot left. Levet is one of a kind and so is Barge.

don’t forget the '95 FDP!!

I didn’t see any notes on that one, any Intel? My recollection is that the vintage was very young at that point, but I could be wrong.

It’s been couple of years since I tried it, but I recall it being wonderful. Definitely different from the regular Chene Vert. from the same vintage. Full disclosure, I’m the consignor.

Done!

Wow, what the hell?! That’s a lot of wine you dumped! I assume you still have some of each of the things you are selling.

@Robert.A.Jr I have more Barge than that!!

Consider posting on CC first with a “case minimum order”. That’s quite the assortment, with some age on it too. Imagine they go quickly!

Life happened haha. You were the one who got me into Barge. Love them, but have more than enough that I was able to let some of them go!

Definitely thought about that too, but too much going on now to individually follow up on multiple orders. Hoping they find good homes to go to!

That would have been awesome

You can also get them from Winebid!

I started putting together a hypothetical case together, and without knowing the prices it was hard to do… that easily to put together a case with that Jamet and Gonon vertical, among others!

Thank you for the heads up!

Anyone have advice on Barge cuvee/vintage for the uninitiated?

Thanks for the interest Sean. There are a lot of threads on Barge on WineTalk, but some of the notable ones that come to mind are the following, albeit some being bit old

In my opinion, Barge and Levet represent true old-school Côte-Rôtie—wines that stand the test of time. I absolutely love them. Although they produce different cuvées, in my experience each one is outstanding, with its own distinct character that makes it well worth exploring them all.

@Zachary_Ross @Robert.A.Jr please feel free to enligthen us!

Thanks to everyone who showed interest!

After the first round, there are still plenty of gems from the Northern Rhône available — including back vintages from Allemand, Barge, Benetiere, Clape, Jamet, Juge Jean-Michel Stéphan, and Trollat St. Joseph.

From the Loire, Baudry, Clos Rougeard, Joguet, and Olga Raffault are all still on offer.

And don’t forget to check out Sociando-Mallet (Jean Gautreau) and Krug Grand Cuvées!

I grabbed some but did strike out on the Joguet FDP!
