I can’t think of a great Sushi place in Laguna Beach. If you’re willing to drive up PCH to Newport Coast, this place is good, albeit on the pricey side.
Tons of great breakfast spots in Laguna. Too many to list.

We usually go to the Scandia Bakery on Forest. Good pastries and coffee. You can get eggs, etc. Kid friendly.
I would Not go to the little coffee shop right next to the main beach, even though it has a nice view.

Shunka is only about 12 miles away? So maybe 15 minute drive.
Bluefin in good and nearby for more modern sushi. For more traditional sushi, Kasen is the best, but it is a bit of a drive.
When you get tired of eating your bagel staring at the ocean, check this place out - http://www.ramoshouse.com/history/. About 10-15 minutes if you take pch south then left on Del Obispo. Follow map from there. Great spot for breakfast/lunch only, on the train tracks near San Juan Mission. Wonderful patio and a really cool area. Enjoy!!
