We gripe about retailers often enough (and not without cause, at least some of the time), I thought I’d pass along this digital pat on the back. No, they didn’t exchange a 50 year old flawed bottle purchased a decade ago, nor did they give me free stuff.
What they have done, every time I have done business with them, is have in stock what they claimed, sold it to me at a reasonable price, and (most importantly) run a very tight shipping operation. No surprises. I get to set up the exact date of shipping at the time of purchase on their site, and I get multiple notices by email as that date arrives that “hey you set this up; if it doesn’t work any more, contact us.” Stuff goes out as promised, and is delivered in great shape all without drama.
Chris Rock once said you aren’t supposed to get praised for doing what you’re supposed to do, but we have so many retailers that don’t, I thought I’d say that dealing with Flickinger has always been friction-less. Highly recommended.
I’ve been storing and buying wine there for a few years now and completely agree, they’re great to work with. I had them reach out to me about a bottle of 2010 brunello that they accidently broke and they replaced it with the riserva since they didn’t have the normale in-stock.
