Kansas City Wine shops?

I will be in the Prairie Village area next week-end, and was looking to pick up a few bottles of something nice.

I wouldn’t suggest anything in prairie village, but there are some decent options within maybe a fifteen minute drive. Not sure what your style preferences are, but gomer’s midtown location is at 39th and Broadway and is probably my local favorite. Board member Jim Coley is the wine buyer there as well. Another option for nice bottles is Royal at 103rd and state line, just north of I-435.

I am flexible as to options - champagne, some hot-weather whites, maybe a nice pinot or lighter red.

No doubt Gomer’s Midtown at 39th & Broadway is where you need to go.

Just be sure to leave the Magnum of Pierre Peters on the shelf for me.

Big 2’nd on Gomer’s midtown. Not a large store, but JimColey does a great job of selecting some very interesting stuff.
It’s a little…rough…around the edges, but very good wines.
Another suggestion would be RyanSciara’s CellarRat down on Baltimore. Also a very interesting selection, and also reasonably
priced. He makes mozza and buratta that’s killer.

Tom - if you think we were rough around the edges before, the old location is now a hole in the ground, literally! We’re in a temporary location next door at 3828 Broadway (same parking lot, make a left at the bottom instead of a right), There will be a new, shiny Gomer’s in the old spot next fall (we hope next fall!).

How close are you to Prairie Village?

I would guess about 15to 20 minutes, depending on where you are and traffic. Our address is 3828 Broadway, KC MO 64111 if you want to check Google maps from where you’ll be staying.
