"Just A Touch Of Chardonnay" In A Domestic Blanc de Noir Sparkler???

On Eye Chart’s recommendation, I scored a bottle of the 2007 Schramsberg Blanc de Noir. I really enjoyed the BdB from them recently, so this seemed like a no brainer…but I digress from my quandry in the title. On the back label, there is the the little blurb about the wine, which includes the statement “a touch of chardonnay.” To me a touch is a touch, like a few percentage points. Looking at the blend, it is 26% Chardonnay. Not that I am complaining, but isn’t 1/4 just a bit more than a “touch”?

‘A touch’ is anything up to 27.2% - ‘a smidge’ is 6%-14.8% (Canadian) - ‘a tad’ is less than 17% but also more than 32%, if less than 34.1% post-lees.

Ah. I must have missed that day in Pharmaceutical Calculations.

Maybe Yogi Berra made the wine and it is 99% red grapes. In that case, the 26% chard would be a touch.

They use Chardonnay Noir grapes.

How did you like it versus the BdB?

Gonna have it tomorrow night.

ChardonNoir

I think I like the BdN better at this stage. This bottle had more effervescence and more fruit on the palate. I will buy six of each to track.

What’s a skosh?

That would be a ‘skosh, hey’

Looking at their website the 07 is 26% chard. The vintages prior to that are about 10%. So many the label still reads “a touch” from the older wines. Cuz they oughta change it to “a hunk.”

Well we did used to say pinot chardonnay!
