Jeni's Ice Cream? $80 a gallon good???
Or think it funny?
this.

My kids love Jeni’s ice cream. We’ve certainly have bought enough of it since she opened her original store here. I am over it and don’t buy it much anymore. (I occasionally still crave a scoop of dark chocolate together with a scoop of gravel road - salty caramel with smoked almonds). Her marketing team has been in high gear for sometime, distributing it everywhere. Hopefully, maintaining quality will not be a problem.

you’re thinking of the $5 shake.

Brad, re the market: After just a few weeks in our local they were marking it down almost 20%. Jury is still out.

I just asked to get some sort of consensus on A) value delivered and B) best flavors.

When I make stuff at home…

A given batch may have 2 pints organic cream, 1 pint organic whole milk, 1 cup sugar, 5 egg yolks, and flavor.

Flavor may be a cup of Bailey’s, or varying amounts of home made limoncello, or a couple bucks worth of whatever…

I guess if I had to price it out to do business, it could cost a lot per pint to make money.

8 bucks a pint seems reasonable for a good product.

Talenti is prone to separation as it softens.

Ate A LOT of Bluebell when my travels took me to Texas.

Roberto, my current favorite flavors include: dark chocolate (my all-time favorite), black coffee, brambleberry crisp, and brown butter almond brittle. Jeni cycles through seasonal and new flavors frequently. A new one that I really like is the pineapple upside down cake buttermilk frozen yogurt.

Ok, I will try the dark chocolate on my way home tonight…

Jeeze, I remember when it was $5 in 1994. What is it now with inflation? Or maybe someone could recommend a shake in the $2-$5 range that would replace the depth of flavour and complexity at the lower price?
:
Jeni’s Goat Cheese with Red Cherries is my favorite ice cream and I happily pay $10/pint. I wish it came in gallons and yes I would pay $80 for that size. Her other flavors are great too. I may be biased as I was born and raised in Columbus. Though also I will never turn down a bowl of Greaters’ black raspberry chocolate chip as long as I get a big hunk of chocolate in the scoop.

Talenti’s best flavors are awesome. Their Salted Caramel is especially delicious.

Cheers!

Tried the dark choc last night. VERY good but not twice let alone four times better than Ben & Jerry’s Chocolate Therapy. I won’t be buying more from them.

We call that the Dennis Miller ratio.

Yes. I don’t eat much ice cream, but the Salted Caramel from Talenti is fantastic. Totally worth the price…and the calories!
