Jeni's Ice Cream? $80 a gallon good???

I like Jeni’s fine. Since it arrived in Atlanta people have gone crazy for it. For the most part I tend to dislike a lot of wacky ice cream flavors, so a lot of what they have doesn’t appeal to me. Another local chain- Morelli’s also makes many interesting flavors and generally does a good job. I hate saying this, because it is generally a restaurant criticism pet peeve of mine but: we make better ice cream at home.

Haven’t there been countless variations of this thread topic on the wine board. Is Wine A really worth X dollars per Y measure of volume?

The answer always has been and always will be: whatever the market will bear. If Jeni’s was too expensive for the market, it wouldn’t sell.

Anyone ever heard of High Road Craft Ice Cream out of Atlanta? They will sell 6 pints for $99, but that includes shipping.

Big fan. The texture is definitely different - softer than most ice creams. Favorite flavors are the Askinosie dark chocolate, pistachio & honey, and the BUckeye State (peanut butter and chocolate cookie). Had them ship us a 12 pack for my wife’s birthday party when she was pregnant.

High Road is also good. But I find their ice cream more inconsistent than the others I mentioned above. Also, some of their flavor combinations are really not that interesting. My wife likes them a lot more than me.

The wildberry lavender is horrible. I’ve liked every other flavor.

Anyone tried Talenti ice cream or gelato? I think itt’s awfully good…and my family was in the ice cream business starting from 1919.

Yes, I like some, but not all of their flavors, quite a bit. The coffee chip ice cream and mango sorbets are probably my favorites. Also like the coconut and the tahitian vanilla.

They started showing up in one or two places here about 3 years ago and now they’re everywhere.

This is pretty good!

Ingredients state “vodka” as one of them, but you really can’t taste it at all.

It’s Not really similar to ben and Jerry’s. I think the flavors are cleaner and more integrated. Less like “stuff added to good ice cream” and more like gelato’s American cousin.

And who the hell eats a gallon of ice cream? It’s a treat. Is burgundy worth $1000 a gallon? Milk is only $4/gal.

Salted caramel, grapefruit sorbet, Ugandan vanilla, cayenne pepper.

Just give me good ol’ Bluebell.
