Jeff Fink and Tantara

We became big fans of Tantara maybe 10 years ago and carried it when we owned our shop. I know the winery moved from the Bien Nacido property at some point but I thought Jeff still owned/ran it. Some Googling today says that’s no longer the case. One thing I found was a legal filing that could be a partial explanation. Anyone know? If the question is inappropriate, that’s OK too.

Jeff has moved on from Tantara - don’t know all of the gritty details but they have parted ways. He was winemaker at Pence for a while and now is in partnership with a local Orange County family making pinot/chard out of C2 cellars in Orcutt. I believe they are announcing a new label soon.
Jeff is also an architect and is busy with that as well.

Thanks. I did find a piece about Pence on line, and look forward to whatever the new project might be.

I believe that Rick Hill, Lane Tanner’s husband and the owner/winemaker of Labyrinth, is now handling the Tantara wines. Their new owners purchased an older motel overlooking Los Alamos, CA and are putting in a tasting room there . . .

Jeff is certainly a survivor and helped Pence get their first wines off the ground. He’s a warm, endearing guy who knows what he’s doing, and I’m confident he’ll provide success to anyone he works with.

Cheers
