2014 Domaine Bizot Marsannay Clos du Roy - France, Burgundy, Côte de Nuits, Marsannay (3/3/2017)

A wine produced in tiny quantities. Power, richness and the ability to age. With sumptuous fruit, density and concentration, needs time to open up and show its potential. The quality is breathtaking !!

Hi Barry,

Based on your glowing review I checked out WS for prices

Just looked at the prices as well!

He’s cropping at 15hl/h in good years and a bit of a perfectionist, which partly explains the prices. It also happens to be a tiny domaine. But, still, pricey,…

i like his wines quite a bit but i wish he would find a way to use some older barrels. 100% new wood all the time is difficult especially if the vintage doesn’t call for it. but i guess it is much easier to do sans soufre with new wood due to hygiene.

These wines are stunning! I wished that we could find them in quantity and at reasonable prices. The horse has left that barn however. Thanks for this note. Sounds beautiful.

Just bought a couple of 2009 Bizot Vosne Romanee VV, would it be best to hold this for a few years (2-5) or not? The prices for this wine are a bit crazy but was able to get the last two bottles for $110 each, not really sure why winesearcher prices are so crazy high.

I had the same reaction on the '14 Vosne Romanee a few months back. Blew me away.

I had the same reaction after looking for some 14 Vosne Romanee after tasting it a few months back [wow.gif]

i would imagine they are ready to drink. bizot doubled his ex cellar price for the 2015 vintage, hence the new vintages are expensive. couple that with kermit lynch importation, and the prices become very high.

had the 2012 clos du roy about a month ago and it was drinking beautifully. only 148 bottles produced!

Thanks for the input, on a related topic, was 2009 the last vintage for vosne village VV? For some reason I cannot find VV in the last few vintages.

Stunning wines.

As are the wines made by his wife.

it is possible he could have blended it back into the regular vosne. normally there is vosne and vosne vv in addition to the two lieu dits.

as far as claire naudin, i like her wines on the low end but i would rather have a bizot village wine than her echezeaux. i had her 15 echezeaux earlier this year and while it was a nice wine, it did not possess grand cru depth and intensity.

surprised that this wine would Bizot good.

This is a fantastic producer. Unfortunately this one is hijacked in the US and in short supply and expensive!

Bizot prices are just as bad in Europe as they are in the US. Ex-domaine prices doubled in 2015, and from a pretty high base to start with. Was just offered my 2016 allocation from the local distributor (who’s known to be very reasonable with his mark-ups) and the Vosne Jachees (that’s a lieux dit, not a 1er) was €210 ex-VAT and Echezeaux was €370 ex-VAT. Ouch.

Great wines, though.
