Jackson Hole / Aspen

A friend of mine is scheduling a weekend for the groomsmen of his wedding a few years ago… good food, drinks, maybe a cigar or two, grand ol time. we were talking something kind of ruralish, and somewhat centrally located (people from Ohio, Portland, San Francisco, Arizona). These were the two places that came to mind.

So - recommendations for places to stay, eat and drink? Something relatively walkable would be nice.

This will be in September by the way.

Also, if you have other suggestions for spots that would fit this description would be cool.

TIA

4 seasons Jackson Hole is supposed to be great.

The four seasons in jackson would be great if you were doing it as a ski trip. Seeing as you are not, being in teton village (at the base of the ski area and 20 mins from the town of jackson) may not be all that exciting. I love Jackson and have been going there for most of my life, but for this kind of trip, especially if looking for something walkable, Aspen seems like a better call. More night life, etc. If you want to stay in the town of Jackson, the rusty parrot and wort hotel would be my first choices. Amangani for out of the way with sick views of the tetons.

In either location, with a big group you should consider renting a house via vrbo or a local residential property manager (Cabin & Co in Jackson is great). You will likely be able to find some pretty nice places and could arrange for chefs to cater if desired. Just a thought.

Totally different atmospheres and vibe. I strongly prefer the cowboy vibe of Jackson over the more upscale Aspen. Aspen has way way better restaurants if that is a consideration. Also agree not to stay at Jackson Hole Resort in Sept but to rent a big ass house near Jackson proper. It’s shoulder season for both places in Sept so activities and amenities might be limited.

For me, Jackson by a country mile.

And BYO is not allowed in CO, if that is a consideration.
