J J Prum 2013 Spatlese/Kabinett Question?

I see the 2013 Auslese offered but no Spat or Kab… is it just a matter of release schedules? or did they not make one?

(how are the 2013 Prums by the way?)

noticed and am curious about this as well.

Pretty sure they only produced an Auktion Spätlese in 2013.

No Kabinett from Sonnenhuhr, Himmelreich etc either in 2013. They did produce the Estate Kabinett but it’s only available in Germany.

what’s an auction spatlese?
how do u go about getting these?

There was no regular vineyard designated spatlese or kabinett. There might be a generic kabinett, but that’s it.

ok… thanks…

curious though - why not?

Grapes were really, really ripe. Prum tends not to make caricature kabinett or spurious spatlese.

Was there a big difference in ripeness levels between the Mosel and Nahe regions? If I am not mistaken the are only 25 miles apart. From what I have read here Donnhoff made some very nice wines in '13.

Different vineyards. Having drank several Spatlesen from Donnhoff, they would have been released as Auslese at Prum.

Yup, just Aus and GKA in '13 at Prum.
Mine are readying for a good 'ol American road trip from California to Dellywhere this week.

David - which 2013 Donnhoff wines would you recommend? I just grabbed a 6-pack of the Leistenberg Kabinett.

Not just different vineyards… Completely different regions… Mosel vs Nahe.

Yes, but that had already been established in Russ’ post.

I kind of know the difference between Mosel and Nahe. Just a little, eensy bit.

I tasted the range in September, lovely lively wines, seemed cheaper than usual for Auslesen too. Nabbed a little of the auction Spatlesen.

Remember Zilliken is not far over in the Saar and only made Kabinett.

Any recommendations on 2013 Donnhoff’s that should be in the cellar?

Not from me, I only tasted in the Mosel.

JJ Prüm released a 2013 Wehlener Sonnenuhr Riesling Spätlese Versteigerung. It costs about 100€

Hammer price was EUR 83, you would be lucky to get it for 100 Claus, its a lovely wine for sure.

It’s £85 in the UK provided you buy six - so that’s about EUR 110.
