I like the efflorescence, will keep an eye out for this
Was wondering when someone would mention this. Hard to beat at $50 per.
I keep Vilmart Grand Cellier on hand at all times. Itâs on Last Bubbles fairly regularly for $65 and I see that Woodland currently has pre-arrivals for $55.
I also like Pehu which was recently on Last Bubbles and Winespies for ~$70.
The issue is that we all taste differently. I donât find the Pierre Peters, Vilmart, or Aubry to be apple forward but your wife might.
Donât get itâŠOP spoke about BdB and yet weâre giving him recs with PN and PM in the wine? Too literal on my part? @BHaley, are you just asking for stuff similar to Calsac (Rochefortâs or LâĂ©chappĂ©e?), doesnât have to be Chard? If not pure BdB, then the aperture is wider for recs, including for me (and likely a very longer thread of posts/suggestions!)
Diebolt-Vallois BDB Prestige
Prelat Presle
Chartogne-Tallet Cuvée St Anne
Frank, He mentioned BdB as a favorite, but I didnât read the title or the request to limit to that style.
Figured I would ask. Calsac is (mainly) Avize chard so I wanted to hit the target for him, at least in how I read it.
Taste actually matters more than ever in Champagne so I would urge trying as many of the thread recs as you can before stockpiling(EDIT: these are only BdB. I have way more for blends. ;)).
Personal favs currently:
Pascal Doquet Arpege
Pierre Callot BdB Brut
Pierre Moncuit BdB Brut Millesime
Dhondt-Grellet Les Terres Fines
Dieboldt-Vallois Cuvee Prestige
Anything by Pierre Gimonnet. The Special Clubs until very recently could be had under $75. Those all qualify if you can still find them in the price range. But I would also try his normal bottlings given the request.
Also, this has been a goto for me. I would try any cremant you can find from the Jura.
Domaine PĂȘcheur CrĂ©mant du Jura
Not all of us know Calsac, as some of us said
I like Vincent Charlotâs Fruit de ma Passion.
Drinks fine from release but benefits greatly from another 2-3 years in the bottle (if you can find some bottles thats not the latest release).
And for those unaware, then I think this is the Calsac bottle that is referenced to(?)
Just had this for the first time last week and completely agree. The basic BdB is also very nice and $10 cheaper, but I think the Prestige is a noticeable step up.
You are correct - I know I have to give a few of these a try my friend. What she and I get in wines can be very very different, but she is the one that asked for bubbles more than I do so I have to be careful what I get
And the challenge is that I donât wanna spend more than $50 To find out that the style is not to her liking at all.
Eric Rodez BdB and rosé are both around $60 and lights-out for my palate. (He was formerly at Krug.)
+1.
The 2012 of this BdB was a great value when I picked it up at $40.
Does she like no dosage bubbles? If so, try some Pere Mata Cava. $20 so no great loss if sheâs not a fan.
NV Lilbert-Fils Perle Blanc de Blancs Grand Cru Brut
Serious question but where can you find it for $60?
