Is this an invitation to fake?

This worries me.

Seems that way… looks like they’re selling the capsule sealers? Given its the most challenging issue when it comes to faking wines this is a little concerning. They might even be selling the capsules?

There are several offers for empty bottles of high end Burgundy and Bordeaux. One in particular, a DRC Richebourg 1976 with a $600 plus price tag.

The guy behind the video is repping for wholesale only meaning wineries are the target. Can the machine be used by someone nefarious, sure. Is that his intent, I doubt it.

Hard to imagine any mid-size or larger wineries put capsules on one bottle at a time like that. Seems incredibly labor-intensive.

I’d like to know where he’s getting pristine capsules. They bear the winery’s trademarks, so if they are counterfeit then someone is committing trademark violations at best. If they are authentic, then I question whether the supplier is authorized to sell them to anyone other than the chateau.

I bottled at two boutique wineries and capsules went on one at a time. That’s putting the hand in hand crafted.

Keep in mind this dude is in China so anything is possible.

Lol that’s why he has a box full of empties wrapped in plastic and a table full of high end capsules? :joy:
