Few days here at the resort. Unbelievably beautiful and it is the winter! Delicious food. Incredible sites. Snorkling on the Giant Clam reef today and fishing. We caught a Robinson’s Sea Bream. Tonight they will make it for us. Sashimi for myself and my son. Sautee for my wife. 3kg fish. We lost four fishes and caught several non eating fish. The four we lost the last was most likely a spotted cod. Unfortunately we had 80 lb test and 40lb drag. 10 minutes of fight and the darn thing got away! The others were likely sharks. Lots of remoras today. We had a blast. This is a singular lodge and singular experience.

The fish was fresh out of the water. Probably 2 hours. I don’t think they had a chance to freeze it. Since it was line caught, the chef was pretty good at making sure it didn’t have any problems. This is an amazing lodge.

I’ve spent time on multiple GBR islands and I have to say that the best reef conditions I found were in areas closed to visitors including recreational divers. (I had a research permit. 
) Before I experienced that, I thought the reefs around the publicly accessible islands were amazing. It does get actually even better.
Not all fish parasites (or their eggs or larval stages) are detectable by visual inspection. Proper freezing is safest.
