Who’s up for a Charles Shaw Flavor Tasting Series?
Hey, get yer own joke…
This one has been made already!
Anyone up for an offline? I have some rare CS Cabs to contribute. They are aging beautifully and are hitting their prime after 3 days of bottle age.
Should I be upset? I was offered a share of this allocation in exchange for a stay at my beach house. We exchanged emails agreeing to the deal and now the berserker, who I won’t out, says he no longer likes beach houses. I have to buy my 2 buck at retail! What do you think?
Nice work!

Hi All,
Recently bought a storage unit that was full of cases of Charles shaw wine, been doing research online and it looks like pretty special stuff. I don’t drink the fancy stuff. Wondering if I should auction it all off?
What’s the temperature control like?
Their wines now aren’t really as good as the ones they used to make a few months ago, but I have it on good authority that there’s some classic vintages coming up on the auction market. From what I’ve been able to gather they’re from a private collection from deep within the heart of Switzerland, where it has been nestled away safely under ideal conditions, waiting for this moment. I’m told it’s in pristine condition. I’ve been busy at work, so I haven’t been able to look at it myself, but I work with an agent in Nigeria (a former government member), and he’s assured me they look authentic and match the photos and descriptions of Charles Shaw wines from the classic period that a lucky few might remember from late 2010 through early 2011 before the original aluminum spigot on reserve tank #58 was swapped out for the newer, cheaper plastic one (I think we’d all agree the wines have never been the same after). I found a guy named Charles Shaw in the phonebook and after paying him a consulting fee of $50, he agreed these look authentic as well, so you can rest assured it’s been verified by an expert. Unfortunately, the seller wants to sell the lot as a whole and I can’t afford to buy the whole collection, so I’m looking for a few people to go in on it with me, so we can get the bottles out of the country. If you’re interested, PM me, but I will need your banking information in order to raise the working capital and pay off the consultant. I’ll also need your home address, the hours when you’re not home, and any alarm codes I might need to make sure the wines get into your cellar safely. In fact, a cellar inventory would be helpful as well, because that way I can make sure the wines get put into the right section of your cellar. I look forward to your response.
Brilliant.

You can sign up on the Barbetta Berserkerfest thread. Be sure to specify whether you want to sit at the Merlot table or the Cabernet table.

I am passing on my allocation this time. I have it on good authority that the next vintage is going to be stellar and include a price increase. I figure I need to save my money now …
I’m pissed that I haven’t heard anything about my Hospice du Shaw case. Who is the importer? Has anyone on the East Coast received a notice of shipment? I heard that the it was hitting the left coast first, but I’d expect that I should hear at least SOMETHING about my shipment.

Just got the mailer. Looks promising. I’m going all in for my max alocation.
Nice move, John.
Earlier this morning I predicted this thread would be up soon in my post re: Boycotting Producers thread, but was
really surprised that it took about an hour for someone to spread the good news.

Amazing news!!!
Most remember the absolutely earth-shattering Telluride Wine Berserkers Ski, Wine, and Dine Festival, featuring none other than Olivier Krug. How could we follow that?
2013 Wine Berserkers Ski, Wine, and Dine, headlined by none other than one Charles freakin’ SHAW! Fred Franzia will co-moderate with me, sitting at the front table, and we’ll have 6 of the finest pours imaginable. Of course, as with last time, the wines will be carefully inspected, opened in the back room so the principals can inspect them and approve them, and we will receive our pours by Charles Shaw officially merchandised aprons. The afterparty at the cabin will be one for the ages, folks. Think about the most amazing event imaginable, and multiply it by 2.
I’m not buying until Woodie gives an OK! Do they have a Pinot? I’m so out of the loop these days on the latest from CA!

I’ve heard it’s been delayed due to some legal wrangling. Apparently some of the cuvees at the last Hospice de Shaw auction may have been adulterated and may not actually contain wine from the central valley. It’s alleged that some less than scrupulous vintners actually substituted wine from the Cote de Beaune and when some cases of the Hospice auction wines were delivered customers complained that the wine was far too complex and lacked the rough alcoholic character of the best Hospice de Shaw cuvees from previous weeks. The Hospice announced their investigation with those wine makers is in the “special rendition” phase in an undisclosed location and should be completed soon, after which they hope the correct wines will be delivered to customers. So you still might get them in time for Berserker Day
