Or because I’m that much of a tightwad
I would not be so categorical. While it’s true that some wines show obviously premoxed, some are just slightly advanced, which becomes a lot more obvious with air.

It’s got that low end (bass heavy, punchy) Fornerol vibe to it if you like that style.
Found another for you. I tasted with Jean Marc Pillot’s son last year. We tasted the Montagny 1er cru with the 100 year old vines. Marty Steinley has this one for $50. Don’t know if you can find it cheaper but you won’t find a kinder more knowledgable source. This is a blanc. Forgot the actual vineyard designation but you can find it. Over 100 year old Chardonnay vines. Tended in the same manner as the Chevalier Montrachet and even handled similarly. It will shock you.
I think you are referring to Les Gouresses. Vins Rare just offered the 2020 as well. It’s a delightful wine, and very impressive.
Lots of great suggestions in this thread. For my money, the Macon is where the real value plays are in French Chardonnay. A couple of years ago during lockdown, I bought a sampler cross section from the region using Gilman and WK’s notes as guidance, and I was very pleased by what I tried.
Here’s what I bought/paud and would recommend whole-heartedly (while acknowledging the styles can be quite different between producers, from reductive-bright-lemony to herbal-floral-delicate to more savory-bready):
Domaine de la Chapelle (Catherine et Pascal Rollet) Vieilles Vignes, Pouilly-Fuissé, 2018, $30
Guerrin La Maréchaude, Pouilly-Fuissé, 2018, $28
Guerrin Sur la Roche, Pouilly-Fuissé, 2018, $28
Jacques Saumaize Les Courtelongs, Pouilly-Fuissé, 2018, $34
Jacques Saumaize Poncetys, St. Véran, 2018, $26
Pascal Bonhomme Viré-Clessé Vieilles Vignes, Mâconnais, 2018, $20
Barraud En Buland Vieilles Vignes, Pouilly-Fuissé, 2017, $45
Guillemot-Michel Viré-Clessé Quintaine, Mâconnais, 2017, $26
Jacques Saumaize Les Creuzettes, Pouilly-Fuissé, 2017, $26
Robert-Denogent La Croix V.V., Pouilly-Fuissé, 2016, $40
The hard part at this point is finding more of these, in the USA at least. I found most of these at K&L and they were not available at virtually any other US retailer even then, and K&L has not reloaded by and large (EDIT: just checked and some of these can be found again, especially in the 2020 vintage).

I have had quite a number of premoxed white Burgs. But, from my experience, the issue seems to have improved. Had many more a number of years ago, does not seem as prevalent now.
Some of this could be selection - both producer and age at which I drink the wines. But, I am finding the same thing with wines I drink from cellars of friends, so maybe not.
Agreed!
Agree with Jon Lawrence suggestion re the Girardin Bourgogne.
Based on your recommendation, we bought a 6 pack of the 2020 Domaine Jean-Marc Pillot Montagny 1er Cru Les Gouresses Blanc. Was $50 delivered from JJ Buckley, private client price.
Just opened one. Incredible wine. Absolutely impeccable and memorable. Worth every penny.
Thank you!
Jm pillot makes nice reds and whites.
And then I look at this wine on CT and the only note is from @dcornutt:
“advanced but nose is ok. palate shows bitterness. maybe a one off.”

That was my one bottle from a new source Chris. I had the wine at the domaine. It is incredible. I really do feel like that bottle was off.
I was just having a laugh. I admire your candor about the bottle. Thanks for sharing great ideas like this.
FWIW this is bottled under regular cork rather than DIAM.
Montagny 1er cru
I’ve found some 2019 and 2020. I was gonna get a little of each vintage but I figured I’d ask if I should give more love to either of those?
Also, I had a bottle of 2020 Clos Salomon Montagny Le Clou Blanc which also punched above it’s price point. I think it’s relevant for this thread.
Cannot comment on Montagny. But a CM village 2019 last week wasn‘t ready yet: decanted, drunk over three days, never really opened. On the other hand a 2020 version consumed a couple months ago was an instant winner.
