Was interested in hearing the opinions of those of you here who follow Oregon pinots. Will probably lay a couple of one of these bottlings down (2008’s) but am sort of on the fence for which one.
I’ve always thought that the Abbey Ridge bottling was a little more rustic with slightly higher acidity than the Clos Electrique. Both have a classic Dundee Hills profile of sweet cherry, oyster shell, with some spice. Personally I lean toward the Abbey Ridge, but I love and collect both of them.
The CE is generally more about earth, AR produces elegance and acidity. This is like asking should I buy La Tache or Romanee St Vivant. If you are only getting one case, get 6/6 and invite me over in 10 years.
What they said.
See, thats what I always thought. I got a bit confused last night however when I spoke to a generally knowledgeable individual who describe the Clos Electrique as having higher tones, a better mouthfeel, and generally more feminine style vs. the A.R. more black fruit profile. This threw me a bit and wanted to check with all the knowledgeable folks here.
Could your friend have been jumping across vintages? Comparing say an 07 CE to an 06 or 03 AR?I’ve not had Abbey Ridge fruit, or any wine from Cameron thy I would describe as black fruited.
