I’ve only had a Giacosa once before but the 2007 Castello di Neive ‘Santo Stefano’ Albesani Riserva [Barbaresco] is excellent. Despite the color - some orange bricking at the edges - it’s still structured and tannic, with the warm year leading to 14.5% abv. This majestic masculine nebbiolo is even better on the 2nd night when it continues to blossom. It could keep another decade or more I think. Interestingly, both tasters independently thought it tasted of figs/dried figs. I found some orange peel on the nose too. For my palate, a complete, firm example of a weekend level Piemonte, and an A grade.
This was such a great thread to revisit.
