Does he know that paper boxes are made from trees also?
It isn’t a subject that gets me particularly hot under the collar, as in the final analysis it’s trivial compared to the environmental impact of many of our daily activities, but it’s a little fatuous to suggest any real equivalence between recycled cardboard and heavy wooden boxes.
The deciding factor, though, was the fact that apparently most of his importers immediately open the cases, remove the bottles, and dump the cases, as very few end-consumers get a 12-bottle allocation.
For anyone who didn’t ever see them, the OWCs were really beautifully done, so I’m actually sorry to see them go, but that’s how it is.

I have several of his wooden boxes and have always appreciated the fact that his premium product was packaged in a premium container. I’ll be sure to hang onto them as they may one day be a collector’s item.

I also understand they have gotten significantly more expensive in the last year or so.
I just bought a VV with a 2021 disgorgement date. I think its a VV anyway.
