I had SE once, the 1992 (1st vintage?) - a friend brought in back from a California trip … must have been ca. 1995 …not cheap then …
really very impressive, concentrated, almost black, dense, not the epiphany of elegance - but it might have developed …

IIRC, the 1992 Eagle sold for $75, pricey for a first release CA Cab at the time. Ha!
Another wine I would love to try is a mature Mount Eden Cabernet. I have had the 2007 (and own some) but it is not mature yet ( although it is excellent). Probably just need to live another decade.
Howard, Seems like you’re 2 to 3 decades off if you want a mature one although they are now very pricey for 70s and 80s wines.
Well stored bottles of the 1973 and 1974 will rearrange your list of California’s greatest Cabs.

Had the 1982 a few years back. Not the best of the best, but a really fascinating drink. So unlike Cali Cabs of today- Lots of bell pepper!
Yeah so, I am no one’s idea of a Cab guy, but even I was very impressed by these CA cabs (in Pommard no less…)
The 75’ Phelps, courtesy of @Greg_K IIRC was delicious. An eye-opener for me.

Pretty sure there are PLENTY of people here who would gladly sell you one 
I would love a tasting of all of the iconic west coast wines of the 90’s and early 2000’s. Bonus points would be a knowledgeable guide tasting with me (or a group of us) explaining the significance of said winery appearing on the scene, what it meant for the future of the west coast (This winery changed the landscape as we know it because ‘x’) and where they are today.
Side question, is there any thread out there that has info like this compiled that I can read? I was never aware of the depth of west coast wines (many that don’t hit retail, esp to me on the east coast) until I started reading this forum.
I have not had those vintages of Phelps ( did have 1976 a couple of times) and Diamond Creek (had some great 1978s). Those were the great days of California cab.
I guess If this is like a wish-list I’d say: Chave Ermitage Cuvée Cathelin or Romanée-Conti or La Tâche or Monfortino or Coche-Dury Puligny-Montrachet Les Enseignères or Raveneau Les Clos.
Would love to take credit, but that one wasn’t mine - I brought the mag of Togni. The '75 Phelps was courtesy of the other Berserker in attendance at the dinner.
