I m thinking of buying one of these and know nothing. Any recommendations re brands, setup, garage v. basement, etc would be appreciated. These two looked decent. Cabinet height may be an issue in the basement due to an 8 foot ceiling.

No Vinotemp, if you don’t like it they might sue you.
The WE has roll our shelves which I have in my Eurocave units and really like this feature. You do lose some capacity but it makes it easy to locate lost bottles.
Yes, as the person currently being sued by Vinotemp for a cabinet they never, ever delivered I can’t recommend them. (To say the least.) See this thread (not started by me) or many others online for an example of what to expect if you do: Vinotemp Customer Service Issues -- Help Please - WINE TALK - WineBerserkers.
I have a ~600-bottle Le Cache that, once we got into place (no small feat; again, understatement) has been running like a champ. (Knock wood. Fingers crossed. Spitting over shoulder.)
I just bought the 300 bottle version of the WE at Costco. Will be delivered later this month. Stay tuned. My decision was based mainly on capacity and the space it needed to fit into.
Exactly. Just say “NO” to Vinotemp.
I would avoid the garage. They are not designed to keep wine cool in a hot environment but to cool 10-15 degrees below room temperature.
Vintage Keeper is now KoolR and good bang for the buck if you are not looking for a piece of furniture for your den or living room. With the evolution of home office needs, I sold my big fancy desk and leather chair and converted my study into a wine room with two 500 bottle cabinets and a bistro table.

Have had a Vinoteque for 18 Years. I had to replace one cooling unit in that time but love it. Got a great price from K&L.
+1.
Amazing customer service and great cabinets. Their 5-years warranty on the cooler units is unmatched.
Cheers,

I’ve had my Vinoteque QT600 now for 15 years and knock on wood no issues.
Here’s the thing. Regardless of which one you buy from Costco, if you buy it from Costco online, Costco will deliver, and the best part is that if it ever breaks down you can take it to any Costco, no matter how long ago you purchased it, and they will take it back no questions asked.
I have returned other items after a year, and there has never been any problem. That’s your safest bet.
i’m always dubious of the bottle count that these vendors list. if you only collect BDX, you’re in good shape, but if you like pinot, champagne, riesling, etc your capacity will be a lot smaller.
To Costco’s credit, that say as much in the listing and even include a bottle size chart for reference.
Why I bought mine from Costco online though getting it back to Costco would be a hassle. It was a vinotemp but purchased before I read about the awful CS here. Remember to install it and let the refrigerants settle for 2 or 3 days before plugging it in.
Wow…I can’t imagine why Vinotemp thinks that having a clause like that will help them. I’ve heard good things about their product…I’ve heard bad things too. But that clause is the #1 reason I won’t be buying anything from them
Another vote for LeCache. Excellent build quality, and great customer service.
I just found out the Wine Enthusiast model is really two 300 bottle units with right and left doors.
This makes it much easier to get down my basement.
Does anyone have experience with this product?
Great advice regarding Costco. I purchased a small under counter model from Vinotemp and loved it. It worked wonderfully. I would totally reconsider that purchase now based upon this policy.
