I know it’s not “the market” but damn Burgundy pricing…

Sounds like the allocation you got should go to John’s retailer.

That’s beside the point (not to mention a brag). The point was that these wines moved quickly at those prices.

My prices weren’t allocated; just regular prices from US retailers. There are much lower prices from
Europe if you don’t want to jump through hoops.

It’s wild that the roumier bm sold that quickly at that price. The roumier amoureuses is very rare which makes some sense. Leon and son was selling it last week for 1k less, though.

I bought a bottle of 08 Musigny late release last week in a case with 2020 and 2021’s.

Well to say allocations weren’t great would be an understatement. I may get a couple bottles at most, which is fine. Another reminder that Burgundy is just a different animal.

I generally haven’t found allocations from shops to be that useful except for stuff that’s otherwise impossible to get (like wk wines). You can buy almost everything cheaper and more easily from the grey market and certainly cheaper from europe/asia.

I got 15 with the 20s and the 16 with the 21s. I expect it will be 18 with the 23s this year.

Yeah I got a couple allocation offers for the 18 musigny, not incredibly attractive prices.

Should be around $2200. Allocation pricing was better a couple of years ago when they were lower and were trading higher. Right now it’s about a wash with backfilling from auction.

Yeah I’ve seen a lot of Mugnier 01 and 07 musigny trading in the 1800-2200 range which would be drinking well right now.

2001 is fantastic!

Yep!

It was 2018 on what I saw offered fwiw

Good timing, thanks. I have an untouched 6 pack bought on release that I’ve been patiently waiting on, but have recently been considering.
