Don’t judge me, but a few months back when we finally got rid of our last baby bottle brush (It had outlasted the last bottle by a while) I had to figure out how to most effectively clean our stems. I tried a regular sink brush, I tried various methods in the dishwasher, but in the end, there was no solution that was as good as the bottle brush! So I intentionally went out and bought a couple. Specifically the Munchkin brand bottle brush with the sponge at the top. I use the sponge part for the rim, and the whole brush for the bowl. Very gentle and still good enough to clean it perfectly!
Anyone else do this or have other wine glass cleaning tips?
Hot water and some wine glass sponge. Done. My glasses have never seen a dishwasher. Our water destroys everything. If I get a water softener, that could change. Although my glasses have never been touched by soap either.
Hot water and dry with a flour sack towel. That’s it.
Maybe a wipe with a clean cotton dish rag while washing if particularly dirty.
But here too, our glasses never see a dishwasher, rarely see a drop of soap. And we must be getting good at it because can’t remember the last time we broke one washing it. But depending upon consumption washing wine glasses is a next morning chore.
One year for Christmas I was given a wine glass cleaning brush similar to the ones pictured below.
I’ve never used anything else since. I also have the one designed for decanters (I was given both) but normally I only use the wine glass brush. Considering they’re below $10 AUD in most places down here I suspect they could be had for less than $5 USD in the states.
