Hudelot Noellat

Hello all, I see this producer mentioned a lot and since im getting started with burgundy id love to try their wines. I have tried looking for them both locally in FL and online but it hasnt been easy.

So two questions which bottlings would you recommend to age and some to try now and whats a good place to source them from?

Thanks in advance

Unfortunately, they don’t have a US importer for distribution through the 3 tier system. There are some retailers that buy thru brokers, so the wines are around (check Wine-Searcher).

If you can find any of his 2016s, they are drinking really well right now. I had the Richebourg earlier this year, and it was outstanding (though pricey to try).

The Vosne Romanee and the Nuits St. Georges are good places to start for trying the house wines. Wines are really elegant.

Although most of the wines are excellent, the steal here is Clos Vougeot.

You might want to begin with the basic burgogne. Used to be an absolute steal 6 years ago. Pricerier now but no need to spend hundreds to check out his style. Pretty classic red burg producer, nothing too extreme…

At the lower price point his Chambolle-Musigny Village … this should be drinkable earlier, 2014/2017 if tracable, 2015/16 to age.
Nuits-SG Murgers to age, and of course the Grand Crus
(the Petits Vougeot was rarely impressive)

I believe you could source some from @Robert_Panzer.

This or MacArthurs (Bassins) are both good options

Thank you all for the answers so far! Ive now found some bottles and cant wait to get them! Keep the recommendations coming and if you have a favorite of their wines let me know which and why!

I always thought his Romanée-st-Vivant and Richebourg to be among the better wines of their respective apellations. Always very fine. Power without weight I’d say and always full of finesse. Moreover, contrary to what many of you state here, their wines are not THAT expensive compared to other domaines owning the same wines. Think ARNOUX-LACHAUX, GRIVOT. Concerning the more “basic” wines : I always buy 6 bottles of Chambolle viillage and 6 of Vosne village. Always had success when sharing those with friends !
