How to recork your own '82 Lafite

Guess we may see these on wine bid soon.

Ask Rudy, but he specialized in DRC.

Holy crap Batman.

A $50 bottle of 1982 lafite.

Well maybe not wine bid, but get your own recorked bottle on ebay.

OMG

He must get paid by the hour. I’ve never seen anyone take that long to open a bottle.

+1

I don’t even know what to say.

2003 corks? Isn’t that the peak of concern with taint?

somebody get that man a Durand!

If it were my wine for personal consumption, never to be re-sold, I guess I can see the value of the process. One must realize that the value of those bottles of wine falls precipitously the moment he cuts that foil and pierces the cork.

Looked like a bunch of gunk fell in the bottle when he jammed that blue stopper in there.

The 82s are heat damaged based on the capsule and cork. Kinda painful to watch.

I can only assume from them posting that video and putting those stickers on there, that they think what they are doing is perfectly fine.

I don’t get what the big deal is??? He said that there is “some guarantee” that the bottles have “maximum authenticity”… :astonished:

Given that they are not hiding anything I don’t see why it is not fine. They seem to take decent care of the wine and are not re-conditioning the wine in any way. As I mentioned, they are destroying the value of the wine, but that is their choice.

If I want to paint a beautiful Ferrari an ugly color of chartreuse, it doesn’t make it wrong, just ugly… (ok, maybe it is wrong…but hopefully you get my point)

Low humidity in Eastern Florida cellars? I gues climate change is real!

I much prefer my '82 Lafite to be recorked by some guy wearing cargo shorts* in his mother’s dining room over the work they do at the Chateau. Gives it a more homey feel to the experience.

*I think - I couldn’t bear to watch more than 15 seconds of the video once I realized what he was going to do.

It was a painful video to watch.

Looks like a Lamborghini Miura to me:)
