How to "hide" replies from a user with a private profile setting

Can you show me how to hide replies from a user with a private profile? Thanks

Not sure I understand what you mean by “private profile”. To hide a user, find one of their posts, tap their name, which will pop up their info. Click on the name again, which will take you to their public profile page. You’ll see a box, probably labeled “Normal” with an arrow, indicating it’s a pull down menu. Click that, then select “Ignored” to put them in that category for you. You’ll get another popup that asks you to choose a time frame. You can put them on ignore temporarily, or forever.

Frankly, I think there should also be an “Abbie Normal” option.

Thanks Alan- I have been successful in “ignoring” users in the past, but this is the message I receive when clicking on a user’s profile: “This user’s public profile is hidden”. There doesn’t seem to be any other options.

Mark, I think I know to whom you are referring, but regardless, please send me a PM on this. If it is who I think it is, that person’s profile has been deactivated so you won’t need to ignore them, they won’t post anymore

Thanks to both Todd and Alan.

Who dat?

I may have found the answer (web search!)

To mute a user in Discourse with a private profile, you can’t use the in-topic menu; instead, go to your own preferences, find the “Users” tab (or “Blocked/Muted Users”), and manually type in the username you wish to mute or ignore, which will suppress their posts and messages, even if their profile is hidden from others

Just tested it, it works.
