I love that idea, in theory. In practice, I am (i) lazy as hell and (ii) still have the sickness bad enough that when I see an empty slot, I feel like I have failed.

A handful under 200 and nearly full offsite storage. Anything I’m not planning on aging is at home (hovers around 1-2 cases). Looking at the valuation on CT I’m more surprised at how much I’ve spent than the number of bottles.

I try (and often fail) to hold the line at 850 - which means my cellar is only slightly over-bursting

Pretty much the same situation here, although I’ve somehow managed to keep the accumulation acceleration pretty measured in the ~13 years since I found CT and WB.

I was thinking about a poll regarding capacity, this berserkerday I heard lots of people staying on the sidelines, unsuccessfully, because of capacity issues.
Regardless of total cellar size, if you’re 10% over you’re screwed.
It’s like when the Carlisle mailer comes out, half the people have a life time supply of Mike’s juice.

My problem is that I started trying some of the Burgundy people enjoy around here. My collection, once exclusively Bordeaux, is now 20% Burgundy.

I just posted in another thread that I’m under 1000 now. Pending, that is. (But I just realized that doesn’t include the 750 on a pallet being shipped soon, so it turns out I lied.)
At least I can take solace in being comfortably under 10k bottles with a waning trajectory of acquisition that should keep me safe for a few years yet.

I wonder if it’s possible to calculate the “berserker effect” or change in acceleration of acquisition pre compared to post joining WB. I’m fairly certain I was sub 100 bottles, now piling up a few boxes with BD deliveries en route and another bedrock release next week…and in the 500-1000 club.

Enough to fill one home cellar and 2 off site lockers. Trying to stave off a 3rd locker or a walk in.
Going to need to take a year off buying, which is pretty hard considering the run of great wine vintages available.
