Houston wine shop and restaurant recommendations

Thinking about a weekend in Houston in April. Looking for a wine shop and a nice restaurant where I can bring a bottle or two with corkage.

Appreciate any assistance

Lonnie

BYOB is illegal in TX if a restaurant has a liquor license allowing them to sell spirits, which the vast majority of them do. There are a small number of restaurants in Houston that allow BYOB with a corkage fee, and one of the nicest is Lucio’s. There are others - mainly Asian or Italian cuisine - that allow BYOB, but it’s rare.

Thanks for the update. Last time I was in Houston, you could drink a beer on the 610 loop while stuck in 5 pm rush hour traffic.

Any thoughts on a restaurant with a nice wine list in the $250 a bottle range?

Second upvote on Lucio’s.

Porta’Vino is also a great BYOB spot, but also has a great wine list.

Thanks for the recommendations
What are the best wine shops down there?

Spec’s at 2410 Smith Street not far from downtown is the go to wine store in Houston. Spec’s has other locations but Smith St. is the grandaddy of them all.

Thanks Michael

13 Celsius is probably the most well-known wine bar in Houston. So definitely worth checking out.
