Hello,
2022 Jasud is perhaps the wine from our vineyard I am the most proud of. It was a decisive vintage, with extreme heat around harvest defining your choices. Either you went before the heat or you went after. We were not willing to see what was around that corner. Low fruit loads and dry farming help us push phenolic ripeness faster than sites farmed in an opposite fashion and therefore we were pretty much right where we wanted to be before the heat dome sat on the valley. Proud…because to me making a wine in a difficult vintage is the true way to judge a vineyard and those in its trust. My job is to be a ferryman for the vineyard and the year, to take it along its journey with its soul complete so that it may reach its destination as true to itself as possible. We did that in 2022.
