I have worked my way through (at least sometimes) the Gros family and some of the various Magniens, Boillots and Rossignols in Burgundy, but I am stumped by all the Lurtons in Bordeaux.
I feel like every time I have had a Bordeaux lately to try it has been owned by a Lurton, but they are all different ones and I have no idea who is related to who, who makes better wines than other Lurtons and which wineries are one by each one.

All the Lurton’s are related. They are a huge family. As for the best wine made from a Lurton family owned vineyard, it’s Brane Cantenac. Pierre Lurton is in charge of Cheval Blanc and d’Yquem.
By the way, who is your favourite Magnien?

The current cabal of Lurtons descend from four siblings born in the early 20th century, André, Lucien, Dominique, Simone. The first two are the most important.
Starting with André because he is easier, he had a number of offspring, the most notable are:

Has four children, own mostly minor châteaux, but Pierre notable for Marjosse, as well as managing Yquem and Cheval Blanc.
Simone
Three children, don’t know what they are up to.

Stephane Magnien. All but one bottle of a Magnien I have is from him. As I really start drinking his wines over the next five years or so (the wines I have from him are 2008-2013 vintages so some of them should be getting close to ready), I will have a better idea of how much I like his wines.
I assume you put Cheval Blanc and Yquem above Brane Cantenac but are making the distinction that the Lurtons do not own those two? Does in charge mean that Pierre Lurton works for LVMH?
I was recently at a tasting put on by Panos of Brane Cantenac and did like most of the wines a good bit. Brane Cantenac tasting - WINE TALK - WineBerserkers In fact, I would say over the last 10 years or so I am drinking more and more wines from Margaux appellation that I really like, although I would say that Chateau Margaux (although still outstanding) is probably my least favorite of the first growths.

Yes LVMH own the majority of Yquem and Cheval Blanc, Pierre ‘just’ manages them. Others in Bordeaux do have a stake in the LVMH portfolio but not the Lurtons.
I must admit it that I really love it when people own wineries, rather than large corporations, even though it makes things more complicated.
Claire is a Lurton by marriage, but these two estates came to her not via the Lurton family but via her own family (her Grandfather purchased them). Claire is married to Gonzague of Durfort-Vivens.
Claire and Gonzague list all three estates, plus La Gurgue in Marguaux and Acaibo in Sonoma on their company website under the G&C Lurton name:
You know I’m aware of that. Marriage is how many estates change hands. But she is a Lurton who works with her husband, Gonzague.

I guess the newer generation can focus on wine more. The older generation apparently had other things on their minds.
I see Stephen is adhering to the age-old tradition of misspelling Château Villegeorge (as Villegorge). So many people get this wrong I sometimes wonder if it would be easier for Marie-Laure Lurton to rename her château to match.
Pierre Lurtons Chateau Marjosse 2020 at sub 10€ is some nice QPR
Couhins Lurton Blanc is one of the best under the radar BDX blancs too.
