I am organizing a wine tasting for about 60 people at the Fall Meeting of the Business Law Section of the New York State Bar Association on Thursday. Due to a last minute change in the plan, I will need to mark at least 360 glasses for the blind tasting with numbers from 1 to 6. I could use stickers, grease pencils, dry markers etc., but I prefer those round paper thingies you put around the stem of the glass. Does anyone know where I can get them tomorrow in New York City?
I was, by the way, tempted to slip in bottles of Two Buck Chuck in the red flight and yellowtail Chardonnay in the white flight just to see how they do, but I promised everyone I would bring better quality stuff with no garbage.
It has been so long ago that I started using these ('60? I thought I invented it. I went so far as having my engineer SIL design a tag in the shape of a bunch of grapes on a vine. Plastic for use with a grease pencil or disposable paper collars.
When we do sit-down tastings in the trade, they often have a diner-style paper place mat with circles on it and they are numbered. Might it be easier to have your secretary or someone in your media dept. make/print 60 of those rather than having to source, then number, 360 individual tags?
Heck, you might even be able to find a template online, and just click & print.
I would call some of your local wine shops on the phone and ask if they carry the wine glass markers. It may not reflect on their website, or results may vary depending on the search term.
We carry them, but i was not able to find it on our site.
