Help me decide on a domain name for a wine website

What do you like better: burgundywineonline.com or burgundywinegeeks.com?

I am creating a new info site for burgundy but cant decide on the domain name.

What do you like better: burgundywineonline.com or burgundywinegeeks.com?

Thanks for your input.

Berry- burgundywineonline sounds like an online store to me, therefore I voted for ‘geeks’.

Good luck!

I went with #1.
I’m growing tired of the term geek. Just my 2 cents.

What are you trying to do with the website?

Just a database of producer and terroir profiles with some random news elements. An information based site.

So, as I suggested…maybe a subdomain of WB (the site you happen to be using to get feedback for your new wine website), taking advantage of the huge SEO benefits that WB already has.

I’m assuming you want honest feedback…

burgundywineonline.com sounds pretty generic and possibly like a store.

burgundywinegeeks.com sounds like it’s intended to be a community site – like a bbs.

I’d try to choose a name that’s more fitting with the purpose of the site. Burgundyinfo, AllAboutBurgundy, BurgundyNews, BurgudianNews, etc. I note that Burgundian.com seems to be owned by a Korean squatter, but my guess is that if you use “Burgundian” vs/ Burgundy you can find many more available names.

Good luck.

Thanks for the feedback Corey

I also agree that I’m tiring of the term “geek”, just as the term “foodie” has worn thin and become diluted. “Geek” in its most recent interpretation in the social lexicon does tend to convey “connoisseurship”, to tie this to another recent WB thread, which may or may not be what you intend.

I think Corey’s suggestions are great (Burgundyinfo, AllAboutBurgundy, BurgundyNews, BurgudianNews) and I’m certain you’ll do a bang up job, Berry. Best of luck.

Ron

I know you’re serious about your passion for Burgundy Berry. It’s infectious really.

OT but had to share my son and his friend’s new site name

Shreddermcawsomepants.com. A skateboard tips site they want to produce. They are nine…
We built forts out of sticks and leaves at nine…

How about BurgMan?

Thanks. I want to have the “burgundy” and “wine” keywords in the name for search engine optimization purposes though.

Again…if SEO is the purpose, the solution is wineberserkers.com/burgundy or something of that nature, as SEO is built in to WB

I would avoid using “online” in a website name… it seems quite dated, sort of like putting an ‘e’ before every website address.

WineBurgserkers.com?

Very true.

I just noticed burgundy-wine.info was available and snapped that up just encase.

That’s kind of my feeling and actually why I created this thread because I was second guessing myself.

You beat me to this by 4 minutes.

I have no productive suggestions except to wonder if burgundymcawesomepants.com is available.
