Help identifying old Champagne bottle (Mathusalem) – only back label remains

Hi everyone,

I’m hoping some of you might be able to help identify an old 6L Champagne bottle (Mathusalem) that I recently found.

Unfortunately, only the back label is still attached. Here’s what it says:

1 Mathusalem = 2 Jéroboams = 4 Magnums
1 Jéroboam = 2 Magnums = 4 bouteilles
Le tirage a été effectué directement dans son flacon d’origine pour réaliser sa prise de mousse lentement en cave à 8 degrés.
Le remuage a été exécuté

pendant plusieurs mois et le dégorgement a été effectué à la volée comme autrefois
There’s no other visible branding or marking on the bottle — no logo, capsule, or front label.

Has anyone come across a Champagne bottle with this kind of labeling before? Or can guess which house it might be from?

I’ll attach photos shortly. Thanks in advance for your insights!

I’m sure there are other people on here who will know better than I how to determine where this bottle came from. However looking at the font types on the back label the bottle doesn’t seem super old.

Perhaps someone knows about muselet types.

Maybe Palmer or Drappier? They do their secondary fermentation in large bottles rather than transferring from smaller bottles. I’m sure there are other houses that do that, but not sure who else.

I found this. LOL

Already many steps ahead in that thread, and I learned something new about Veuve!
