Healdsburg area tasting room recommendation for a civilian

Ferrari Carano is a good suggestion - I don’t love their wines but they’re solid, and the setting which seems a little overly grandiose for my tastes is probably a hit with the casual visitor.

I think this is a must for the folks you describe. Perfect spot for the casual visitor, not to mention for someone not into wine who “only drinks whites”. Close to Healdsburg, yet gets them out to the back of Dry Creek Valley, a beautiful little drive.

To round out my set of recommendations, can anyone recommend a good place inside of Healdsburg city, which has a decent number of white wines, has at least some moderately priced wines, and which accepts walk in visitors? I would recommend Siduri, Holdredge or Roadhouse, except they make all or mostly red wines, and as I mentioned, the wife only drinks white. I would recommend Lioco, but they only do 90 minute tastings by reservation (for $50 a person).

We have Chardonnay, usually for club members, but available when you ask, primarily Pinot Noir tho’.

Roadhouse Winery (Tasting Room on the Plaza) is open for walkins 12-6 Sun-Thurs 11-7 Fri-Sat.

Seghesio can be a very nice visit for people with a general, if not discriminating, interest. I would second Preston, out in the Dry Creek. Couple of hippies with a beautiful spot, good wines, bread, olives, etc. If they’re “wined out” then the Bear Republic brew pub is right in town, and a nice stop also.

Davis Family has great wines, all in the price you are looking for, and has a full lineup of varieties to try.

Plus they ship to states that other wineries don’t, so that is a huge plus as well
