Has anyone tried Arkenstone's Construction Cuvée?

I picked up a 2006 Arkenstone Construction Cuvée on a whim from winebid.com last week, but there’s next to no information online about it.

I figured the 2006 Arkenstone cab was good, 2006 Arkenstone Syrah was (per CT) amazing, so the Construction Cuvée should be solid… Anyone tried this?

This sounds like a wine made…during construction if I had to take a shot in the dark??? Not sure when Sam Kaplan came on board, but if it wasn’t made by him, I can’t speculate.

That’s kinda what I was thinking - just weird that there’s no CT notes at all. I’m also not sure what the blend is. Might try emailing someone at Arkenstone if no one knows about it.

Sorry if this is a dumb question, but is this winery named after that giant gemstone in The Hobbit?

Lol, yes it is. Another reason I bought it :stuck_out_tongue:

Mystery solved. Just in case anyone is curious:

Hi Eric,

We made this wine for family and friends only, during our years of
construction up here. It was just something we did for fun but it turned
out to be seriously delicious wine! We wish we had enough fruit on the
Estate to continue to make it. It was more of a Right Bank Blend and
changed slightly from year to year, but at this point all of our Estate
red varietals go into our Bordeaux Blend, Obsidian.

Hope this helps.

Very best,

Susan Krausz
