Received a lot of wine today with a couple BD offerings included. Decided to pop open one of the Cab Francs from Fortuity, and I literally uttered a small audible “wow” on the first sip.

Such a lovely wine with a nice red fruit nose and a bright initial flavor featuring a touch of acid that immediately smooths out into a soft and plush glow with a subtle hint of oak. The mouth feel is nicely structured with a lengthy finish. Incredibly enjoyable! I look forward to introducing my friends to this wine.

I have some of the Amusez-Vous that I may have to get into this weekend.

Well done @Emilyferg & @LeeF - I am glad to have found your winery through Berzerker Day.

Aww, thanks so much for sharing! That Cab Franc from Red Willow is pretty special. Definitely more fruit and violet notes than green notes. And I know you’ll like the Amusez Vous!!! But please do share your thoughts!

PS - the Cab Franc is down to 12 cases and is technically a club only wine, but let us know if you want anymore before they are gone. We will be bottling the 2024 vintage this June.

I’m a weirdo that likes unfiltered wines. I think for me, it gives the idea of being all natural with little intervention in a world where everything is manufactured to spec.

I opened the wine fully with the gf. Yet again straight out of the bottle it punched us in the face with acid, but with a swirl or two the balance returned within a few seconds of oxygen.

She picked up more raspberry then I did along with the cherry, but not as much of the tea on the background. she described it loosely as black pepper.

Both of us loved it… but she may have put down a full pour without thinking about it and finished it faster than me, which never happens.

Side note, I personally would love to see how it ages over 10 years or so more but odds are it never gets that far.

White Walnut Estate Dundee Hills AVA Pinot 2024.

Got to love BD. No way I would have heard about this winery on my own. This was fantastic even though it is just a baby. Can’t wait to try the Chard. Thanks for the great wine @Kevin_Peterson.

Love these notes!! If you can muster it, 10 more years on that thing will be put on a show.

Great wine, loved their Chard as well.

Hard to stop sipping this one!

We tried the ‘12 Virage tonight and verdict is . . . it is a knockout. Great balance and perfume and very bright. The cab franc and merlot are perfectly integrated. Drinking great now and I’m sure a few more years would only make it better. First time trying Virage. Now I know what all the chatter is about.

Word from Emily is there is some left and still a window to get some or get some more!

I just tried the Chard last night, it was amazing! Liked it more than the Pinot. Between White Walnut and Beta, I might be a Chardonnay guy.

Thanks Brad! So glad to hear you liked the rosé… and can’t wait to hear what you think of the other wines when you pop them!

2018 Sabelli-Frisch El Aliso Angelica
I snagged this bottle a few years ago and was always waiting for an occasion to open it. Decided on it last night for my birthday dinner and we had it alongside some creme brulee.

I have no experience with Angelica and very little experience with dessert/fortified wines in general but I thought this was an excellent effort. Very fine sediment in the bottle this is bursting with caramel covered roasted plums, nuts and espresso bean. Sweet, but not overly so and an excellent sipper on its own. Good stuff!

Same! Will this keep in the fridge for a few days? (Also paging @Adam_Frisch )

Opened the Arabilis Extra Brut from @Kenny_McMahon1 tonight. Opening was a bit explosive, wine is gorgeous. Acid and brioche and structure. Only bought 2 of these and I definitely want more.

I would imagine this should keep no problem for at least a week probably more. It is fortified afterall

Yes, it’ll keep for about 2 weeks with similar vibrance, in my experience - just a gradual fade. After that it starts to get more maderized with more time, but still enjoyable. Many of those notes goes with the style.

Outstanding!

You scooped me! I am nervously drinking this as I watch my beloved Utah State Aggies try to fight their way back into the game against 'Nova. USU has not been outstanding so far today, but this is!

I’ll say more about what I think is outstanding about it. It is a vibrant wine that has a saline note along with something like ripe, white peach. There’s also a subtle hint of oak that is well-integrated and in no way offensive. Nice, lingering finish.

Not sure I need a glass for this – just rip the cork out with my teeth and get after it.

Disregard that last sentence, please, and chalk it up to March Madness.

That’s well described, much better than I could do. I agree with those tasting notes.

Cheer for the Aggies and it’s all good!

Congrats to your Aggies. I have a weird relationship with vanillanova. I run into lots of people who feel that they should be recognized professionally for having graduated from that school, which offends my snobbish sensibility. On the other hand, they are right down the street.

Apologies for thread drift, perhaps tomorrow I’ll drink a BD wine.
