Kent’s vita-mix thread prompted this. What do you use to lube your hamburger? Select as many as you typically use! My preference at home is for garlic-heavy aioli, but I like the thousand island-ish “secret sauces” that places like In-N-Out often use.
Mustard goes on hot dogs and pastrami not burgers and, God forbid, not on turkey sandwiches. Ketchup does not go on hot dogs. Period, end of story.
I think it’s a geographical thing. People from parts of the country that specialize in casseroles, lutefisk, fried “steak”, okra and Frito pie have it backward. That’s MY story and I’m sticking to it.
Then it’s a flawed poll because you didn’t include Astro-Glide and K-Y jelly . . . nor did you include PAM and butter (or margarine if you live in Texas or Ohio).
Oh, on the contrary, there’s a choice for any "other store-bought product " that you happen to put on your burger. And you’re in luck-- according to the manufacturer’s website, Astroglide is non-toxic and ingesting small amounts should not be harmful.
Flawed poll… where is “Sour Cream”? Relegating this superior choice to “other…” shows an unconscionable lack of… something.
PS: I never put ketchup on burgers, but I regularly put either ketchup or mustard on dogs (never both). I do regularly (not always) put mustard on a burger. The best mustard for a burger is a coarse-ground dijon (GP “Country,” e.g.), and it has to be on the bottom half of the bun.
