Hall Purchases Roessler

Easier to purchase than to start from scratch . . .

Cheers.

I really like the two restaurants that the Roessler’s have in Albuquerque.

Well, I really liked this producer. Not sure how I’ll feel after it gets Napa-fied and has production ramped up to exploit its good name and Hall’s Napa address. Sounds like they’ll at least leave the high end wines alone. We’ll see about pricing, though . . . .

Larry,
Thanks for posting the news. I always wanted to like the Roessler wines, some interesting sources (e.g., Savoy pinot), but never had one that really gripped me.

Cheers,
-Robert

Yup…pretty much my expperience. Good/solid/well-made wines at a fair price…but nothing really distinctive from
other Chard & Pinots. Diid like their GWT quite a bit, though.

Jennifer and I had dinner with Roger Roessler last night in Santa Rosa (over a bottle of the 2005 Roessler Widdoes vineyard pinot). Sounds like the Wine and Vines article was pretty accurate. Roger did retain an ownership stake in the Roessler label and will be involved to some extent going forward. He did not expect much to change with the Roessler label though he was excited to be able to use Hall’s extensive winemaking facility going forward.

Separately he seems very excited about his new label R squared. It will be focused on rhone blends with a target price of under $30. Look for the new R squared tasting room on the Sonoma square soon.
