Many of you remember our Zoom sessions with various winemakers, namely the producers of Grower Champagne, that we had primarily during Covid lockdown procedures. @Frank_Murray_III headed them up, with @Brad_Baker throwing down the expertise as a co-host.
Frank brought up the idea of doing them again, here, and I am posting a poll to see if we could get a decent crowd. Not sure what days yet but we used to do them early weekend mornings (I think 9am Pacific??) because of the time zone differential.
Putting up a poll so I can see if maybe we WILL (not just ‘maybe’) have a good sized crowd for these, as, if we do, we’ll have Frank get back to work setting them up.
For those who did NOT attend, or see the recordings, they are all here!! (link takes you to the first one, a Rivers Marie session, but the rest of them are listed as part of the Playlist)
Will you (VERY likely) attend additional grower Champagne zoom events?
Thank you Todd for posting this–appreciate the lift.
The likely day and time for these would be 10am PT on a Saturday. This is mostly how we conducted the sessions previously, given the 8-9 hour time difference to France. Plus it is late enough in the morning for some that they could open/pour a glass of Champagne and have with some food while they watched.
Acquiring the wines will be my big issue too. Indiana doesn’t get a lot of the small producer wines into its distribution channels. I would be happy to order online and ship, but that requires adequate warning and suitable weather.
We can apply lots of notice, as that is a luxury we should use for the event.
It isn’t essential you have the wine prior to/during the event. It does help though because (for me) it helps create a sensory connection to the event, to the winemaker’s work. But if you polled those who attended the last series we did, I bet you no more than 40% had the connected wine open before/during the events. The majority came on to learn, meet the winemaker, gather and fellowship with others.
