Green Meanies check - 2004 Jadot Clos Vougeot

I attended an offline this past wednesday, focussed on the negociant producers of Jadot, Drouhin, and Bouchard. I did not take any formal notes, but wanted to let folks know that the 2004 Jadot Clos Vougeot that we had at the dinner was excellent, and had no signs of the “green meanies.” We had 10 very experienced burgundy drinkers at the dinner and no one found any green aspect to the 2004 Jadot.

Also, btw, the 1990 Jadot Le Chambertin we tasted at the dinner was delicious (as was the Drouhin 1993 Chambertin and a bottle of 1988 Drouhin Corton).

I opened a 6L bottle of 2004 Jadot Bonnes Mares in August, no sign of GM either.

Good to know. Bought a case for very little. A 2004 Clos St. Jacques last month from half bottle showed very nicely when tasted with Roger Nellans. Dark and meaty with the better savory character of the vintage. Haven’t gotten into the Vougeot as of yet.

To my palate, Jadot reds were pretty successful in 04, or at least not noticeably flawed.

I went through a number of 375s of this and they are probably my favorite 2004s Ive had.
