A friend of mine is going to South Africa and is asking if there are any great South African wines that he can buy there that are not available in the United States. Any ideas? Thanks team.
Morgenster is a fantastic producer whose wines are not readily found in the US.
Most of the best ones do make it out of the country but not in sufficient quantities. The Grand Vins from most of the Tier 1 producers are worthy to haul back regardless of whether there is a shop in the US that happens to carry them.
A good number of the producers will offer vintages unavailable in the US. For example, Kanonkop always has a 10-year-old Pinotage available for sale and as part of their tastings.
