I was looking at my Cellartracker account and checking out my favorite tasters and their tasting notes totals. At the top, Richard Jennings, gotta love the guy for all his wonderful notes, photos and enthusiasm. And I’ve never met him – I still love the guy.
Here’s the thing; he’s consumed 800 of his bottles according to his records and made 14,000 tasting notes. For every 1 bottle of his he consumes he makes another 16 or so tasting notes!
Richard, you are my hero. I want to be you in my next life.
Richard is a very nice man. I only met him once though. I have come to rely on his mass tasting notes. He is very thorough and accurate when tasting mass quantities of wines at events.
My gosh, thanks for the kind words guys. Chris, I look forward to meeting you one of these days. I noticed that too, that I’ve got a pretty low ratio of bottles consumed to TNs. It’s partly because I didn’t enter my cellar on CT until I’d be on there for some years, but it’s also because I got to a lot of retail tasting, trade tastings, winetasting parties and the like that I take notes on.
I just got back from a delightful tasting party at the home of a couple in Los Altos who contacted me because they follow my notes in CellarTracker. I met 10 more potential wine buddies tonight, that I wouldn’t have met up with but for CT. Thanks again to Eric for creating such a fabulous and versatile database that allows us geeks to follow each other’s adventures in wine.
Yep, the combination of folks like you and to a lesser extent folks like me combined with Eric’s wizardry makes for a great extended family of wine lovers.
Maybe that’s why we squabble so much at times! Family and alcohol – a dangerous mix!
Count me among the Richard Jennings fans. Definitely a taster I look to when considering what to buy or drink. Also, kudos for all the great photos over the years!
