Grassl Glassware

I just got the Liberte this week and have used them twice. I love it. I’m prefer the slightly smaller opening compared to the Zalto Universal as well as it being slightly shorter so it provides a light, yet sturdy feel. It’s just an amazing stem and really allows the wine to flourish. I’m going to get a pair of the 1855 and Cru as well.

Will the decanters be available tomorrow? I forgot to check the offers today!

Hi Guys,

I’m the West Coast distributor for Grassl Glass from Liquid Assets Cellars. I have been a member for a long time, but, never post. We love and appreciate the feedback and there are few finer people that I know than Chris Freemott.

Some of the comments regarding the glasses would make a great addition to our testimonials. If you do a review, I ask if we may use some of them. Feel free to quote your experiences and let us know if it would be ok to use. As long as it is OK with Todd. Thanks!!

Hey all
Been monitoring the sales (which are amazing, so thank you) and missed these questions

1 - Vigneron Decanter - three ways to really pour; I am 6 foot 3 and have good-sized hands and am a klutz. I grab by the neck routinely. Never an issue. I have large enough hands to grab by the bowl as well. But, the real beauty of this decanter is the ‘foot’. Go look at the image above and note where the decanter meets the plate. The design has a base that actually drops down enough so you can get a really good purchase on it with your fingertips. Alexander, the designer, is also a tall man with large hands. This design was done in conjunction with his hands and that of Maria, his S.O., whom is quite petite. Her hands fit well on the bottom too. Both size hands should be able to safely grab the decanter by the neck, the neck/bowl merger zone, and the absolute bottom base. You can very easily turn this decanter 180 degrees upside down and not feel like it will slip from your fingers.

2 - Leonard “Are they as thin as GG”? I think you actually mean the Gabriel Glass Gold, their mouth-blown. Vs. the Gabriel Glass Standart, their machine-made. The answer is yes. The Vigneron line compares very well in the Zalto, Gabriel Gold, Grassl, Glasvin arena for mouth-blown stems. There is a post in the wine talk forum about this where I did a bunch of measurements of many of these glasses. I’ll to try and find it. and link back here.

Yes, I was wanting to know how the stems compared with the Gabriel Glass Gold. Those are so thin. I just placed another order. Thank you Chris

Anyone know what the “points” are/can be redeemed for? Seems like it may be a placeholder for future functionality?

I’ll post the conversion math Friday.
But they are the equivalent of frequent flyer points

I just got my first Grassl’s, and they are pretty amazing.
They are listed as dishwasher safe. Do you guys have any long term experience with actually putting them in a dishwasher?

Clean glasses. [shrug.gif]

yes its fine

Top rack in our newer Bosch with adjustable rack. Just don’t adjust the rack with the glasses in it. I also wish it didn’t have the 3rd utensil rack since I took it out to add clearance.

I love the 1855’s. I hand wash them, but the last 2 I bought from BD this past year “blew up” in my hands while washing. Just down to 2. They really do enhance the wine, but I am so paranoid now about them breaking I only use them and get other glasses for wifey and guests.

I use bottom rack in my Miele with no issues. I did break a few in the top rack but that was
during beta testing and the glasses are thicker now.

Order in for 12 Liberte after I saw Marty Lebwohl use and endorse them last week next to my diminishing set of GGGs, now very expensive to replace and backordered.

Bob; reach out to me about the breakage.

Yes; dishwasher is totally fine. Wash mine daily in there.

Points; we are going to make this better. I had no clue how poor the ROI was. As it stands you get 1 glass for every $1500.00 you spend. We will modify that to a 1 glass for every 12 you buy. Now, give us a week or so to figure that out but it’s not much of a reward program as we posted it.

Aloha!
Is there a UDSA distributor?

I’ll second this. As long as you have enough top rack space, dishwasher works great.

I’ll “third” that using the top rack in a dishwasher works very well for both Grassl and Zalto. Having broke some Zalto glasses in my hands with a split second of too much pressure or say, turning around when my spouse was coming to the other side of the sink, the dishwasher seems a statistically safer approach in my experience thus far.

I would also add that Chris Freemott has provided stellar customer service, so combining that with the feel of the glass and my own comparative taste testing, I’ve made Grassl my wine glass of choice.

Anyone ever have issues with the glass becoming cloudy/opaque? To be honest I think it’s been this way for over a year now but seems to be getting slowly worse over time. It’s just 2 glasses out of several Grassl glasses that I own. Nothing about the 2 cloudy glasses is used and cleaned in any different way than any of the other Grassl glasses. I did buy 2 Cru glasses together, so these 2 may be from a different batch but I have no way of proving that.
