🥂 Goodfellow Vindependence Offers!

Hello, and Welcome to the Goodfellow Vindependence Days Offer Thread!!

As always, a huge thank you to everyone on this board for all of the support! We always feel extremely fortunate to be a part of the Wine Berserkers community, and I hope that today’s offers are exciting and compelling for all of you.

We’re offering new releases (2023 Chardonnays, the latest Cabernet Franc, and the 2024 Field Blend from Whistling Ridge), as well as some wines that Berserkers have recently posted on, and some wines that we’ve really enjoyed from tasting appointments lately. I know everyone has a lot of ground to cover, so we’ll post some details on ordering and shipping and then get straight to the offers.

  • You can also post in the thread, but an additional email is still very welcome for the order. These orders will ship this fall as weather permits in your area, and if you have a previous order, we are happy to consolidate your orders for shipping.

Shipping is a flat rate of $40/box, up to 12 bottles in a box. If you have questions about this, please put them in the thread and we’ll answer them as quick as we can. We do not ship to any of the felony states, but we do ship to most other places.

On to the offers:

Offer #1: “the Scott Kieser”

Goodfellow Sparkling Wines 6-pack: retail price $315, $252 for VINDEPENDENCE!
3 bottles NV Willamette Valley Extra Brut- 2nd disgorgement, 2.5g/l dosage
3 bottles NV Durant Vineyard Blanc de Blancs- 1st disgorgement, 0.5 g/l dosage (final 12
cases)

Sparkling wines of course! Since these won’t ship until the Fall, this is really stocking up for the holidays.

The 2nd disgorgement of the Willamette Valley Extra Brut is tasting as well as we could possibly hope for, and with our increased production we have found some efficiencies that are allowing us to offer this wine at an extremely attractive price. If you would like to get a full case of the Willamette Valley Extra Brut for the holidays, we’re happy to send it to you for $384 plus $40 shipping for this sale only. If you can find a better sparkling wine for $36/bottle delivered, please tell me what it is so I can buy some.

The Durant Blanc de Blancs is 55% 2021 and 45% 2019 vintages, 0.5 grams dosage, with elevage in older large format puncheons (500L-820L), and at a little over a year post-disgorgement, this wine is really starting to hit its stride. Please see @scottkieser note from the absolutely insane Champagne tasting @Warren_Taranow hosted. Thank you Scott for actually getting a note up for the Durant in that crazy line up of wines. For more detailed notes, please follow the link here.

Offer #2: “the Mark Maddox”

Goodfellow 2023 Chardonnays 6-pack: retail $340, $272 VINDEPENDENCE
2 bottles 2023 Durant Vineyard Chardonnay (11.2% abv)
2 bottles 2023 Temperance Hill Vineyard Chardonnay (11.7% abv)
2 bottles 2023 Richard’s Cuvee Chardonnay (11.5% abv)

The first release of the 2023 Goodfellow Chardonnays, and the first offer for the Durant and the Richard’s Cuvee in two years. The vintage is marked by low alcohols, higher acidity, lighter body, and a more supple texture. Quintessentially Oregon, but with the frame of old school Chablis/Rully, these wines are a perfect example of how Willamette Valley Chardonnay is different from what we commonly think of as “new world” Chardonnay. For detailed tasting notes, follow this link….

Offer #3: “the Chris Crutchfield”

Goodfellow Heritage Wines 6-pack: retail: $470 $376 VINDEPENDENCE
2 bottles 2015 Heritage No. 6, Fir Crest Vineyard Pinot Noir
2 bottles 2021 Heritage No. 19, Whistling Ridge Vineyard Pinot Noir
2 bottles 2022 Heritage No. 20, Temperance Hill Vineyard Pinot Noir

The Heritage Wines are the best of the vintage from a single terroir. These are three of our current favorites, perfect for discovering what Goodfellow is about. The 2015 No. 6 has been lovely lately (as has the 2015 No. 4, the 2015 vintage is in a great spot right now). The No. 19 is perhaps my favorite 2021 Pinot Noir, and the 2022 No. 20 is a perfect way to meet the unique and fascinating terroir of Temperance Hill Vineyard, in a remarkable vintage for that place. Please see the detailed notes here….

Offer #4: “the Dan Kravitz”

And now for something completely different… mixed 6-pack of WTF? $184 VINDEPENDENCE, retail $230 (if you can find it)
2 bottles 2015 Deux Vert Syrah Reserve (for @David Bueker)
2 bottles 2024 Whistling Ridge Field Blend (an Oregon edelzwicker)
2 bottles NV Whistling Ridge Cabernet Franc (yes, non-vintage)

The Willamette valley is a magical place for growing things of all kinds. But we are capable of growing lovely wines from many varieties beyond just Pinot Noir and Chardonnay. These three wines are off the beaten path and, to be honest, two of them are literally scraps from the vineyard. Grapes planted with an exploratory nature only to smash into the wall of commerce and its aversion to anything new or interesting (hey popular music…). Honestly was never expecting to have an offer named after me, what a cool honor! So of course I had to buy a bunch.

I’ve never tried a Goodfellow Cab Franc before, super excited to try it.

In for a Mark Maddox and Chris Crutchfield. I’m very new to WV wines so thanks for helping me learn! Don’t tell @Dan_Kravitz this Mainer didn’t order the offer named in his honor. :grimacing:

I’m in for a “Scott Kieser” and a “Chris Crutchfield.”

That Durant BdB deserved to be among that lineup of great Champagne and made an impression on everyone who tasted it.

If I bought six bottles for Berserker day, can I buy six more here and combine shipping?

That’s great to hear, and really gratifying given that line up of wines. I love Egly-Ouriet as a producer but old Krug might be my last day on earth choice for wine.

And thank you for the order, I really enjoy your honesty and the flow in your posts on the Champagne thread. :clinking_glasses:

Yes, 100%. That’s one of the main reasons we do the flat rate. It’s just a smaller carbon footprint(fuel and packaging) to ship one case vs 6-packs.

I emailed you for a combo of Offer 1 and Offer 2.

In for a case of the WV Extra Brut #2!

Thank you Matt!

I’m really excited to see this wine get out to people. I tasted the upcoming Whistling Ridge Blanc de Blanc beside it last night, and while they are very different wines the level of enjoyment I had between them was pretty similar.

It was a long time getting this project to the first disgorgement and even longer getting the wines to where they are actually ready (and even longer to get to where we have everything on the lees for 3+ years) but I am really happy with how these are turning out.

I think my favorite compliment on the sparkling wines in a tasting so far was from a Chicago sommelier who on tasting this wine looked at me and said, “you have no business with making wines this good on your first try”. In my opinion, he’s not wrong. But I will take it, the vineyards make a huge difference, and we have always looked to make low alcohol, high acid white wines (and Rosé) which is basically practice for making base wines.
