Will be there for a few weeks and wondered if there were any particularly good places to pick up some bottles?

Bump!
Write to Todd Hamina. His in-laws live there and he visits regularly.
Haskell’s (large selection-everything you want pretty much)
Tony’s off Third (specialty shop)
I stopped by Haskell’s a couple of time last winter, and they had a pretty decent selection (don’t pass up the back room)
I’ve seen these guys on the net: http://www.oldnapleswines.com" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;. They have an intriguing selection on-line, though they do not keep the list up-to-date. Might be worth a visit.
Things have changed since the “good old days” when I first started going there to visit my dad. Almost anything that came in a 750ml bottle with a cork was “fine wine” and the Winn-Dixie had tortillas in a can.
Thanks guys - will check these places out asap.
A few recommendations, very different environments:
http://www.oldnapleswines.com" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; - Peter is a great guy. Hours can be odd and the selection varies based on what he sourced this week. Basically his office with a little storage behind. He really knows his wines.
http://www.totalwine.com/StoreList.aspx?state=FL&store=908" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; - Total Wine (Airport Pulling & Pine Ridge) - Huge warehouse with massive selection. Best in Naples in that regard. Prices are OK out in the “stacks”. There is a six-bay cooler of high-end stuff up front but pricing there is not great.
http://www.tonysoffthird.com" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; - Tony’s Off Third - Small friendly shop with surprisingly good selection. Again pricing isn’t amazing but right in town, cool environment. I like it for the vintage port selection and walk from home.
Good luck!
+1
Hey, looks like the guys have got you covered! I think the most important thing you can do is to eat at Bleu Provence! Very tasty and great people. I also like DaVinci’s on Marco Island. And if you have little kids let me know, there’s lots to do.
And Grouper and Chips, worth the wait.

Sorry for the thread hijack, but I’m going to be on Marco Island for a week in November - any good BYOB restaurants in the Naples/Marco Island area?
Having a great time here. Had a good browse through Haskells and got some very good deals. Will check out the other places in the next few days.
Re restaurants, Bleu Provence absolutely lived up to its billing. Incredible deal on sundays of almost any starter and main plus a glass of wine for $23! Also offering half price on any wine less than $150. Had a beautiful 07 Coche Dury Bourgogne Blanc for half price!
The manager at Haskells recommended a nice italian place called Angelina’s on 41 towards Bonita Springs. They also are offering half price on any wine less than $175.
Noticed that Roy’s was offering zero corkage throughout the summer so took a bottle of 06 Serre Nuove (bought at Haskells). Wine was superb - considerably younger showing than one in ravello in May which is a testament to good transport/storage by Haskells. Service was very good, food was OK but “oversauced” and nothing close to what BP offers.

Todd,
We have 3.5 and 4.5 year old daughters so stuff for them to do would be most welcome. We’ve done the airboat tour and lots of time in the pool and at the beach.
Thanks
Dan
Dan,
Tiger Tail Beach on Marco island is a great way to spend a bunch of time around low tide Saltwater Tides Prediction - ProTides" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; as you can walk out to the spit through the little Bay. It’s maybe 50 yards wide and knee high to an adult at low tide. Put your phone in a zip lock bag.
The zoo is good with the boat ride around the monkey islands.
And our last trip this March we took one of those dolphin tours. http://www.dolphin-study.com" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; The Dolphin Explorer is fantastic, I wish we had gone years before. Boating through the mangroves with dolphins just surfing in the wake behind the boat. The kids go apeshit.
Hopes this helps and if something jumps to mind I’ll post.
I rescind the Davinci reco, but will add Fernandez the bull Cuban cafe. It doesn’t look like much, but dang!
