Good Wine Reviewers on Youtube?

I occasionally bump into a youtube wine review from a google search about wine. These videos have a wide range of production sophistication and reviewer credentials. But I can appreciate an honest effort from even the most humble reviewer.
Recently I have been viewing youtube videos from Konstantin Baum who is a German Master of Wine. I think these are well done and I find his reviews enjoyable and educational. His personal style is also appealing.
Anyone else worth checking out?

I enjoy Bob Paulinski’s material

I also enjoy Konstantin Baum’s videos. We have similar interests in wine and I really enjoy his “wine in 10” where he does a deep dive into a region/style of wine.

Not a fan of AttorneySomm. His voice is grating and he talks too fast, a fast talker as Seinfeld would say. He also seems to focus on trendy over-wrought wines and expensive 1st tier burgs and bordeaux.

Wine King, Jae Hyoung Lee & Peter Koff MW, are kinda the Mutt & Jeff of YouTube Wine Reviews. Amusing and entertaining, Peter seems to have a very good tongue and knowledge of wine. After all, he is a MW.

I haven’t seen Peter Koff in a while (6 months maybe?) on Wine King. It seems to me that Jae is focusing on the Korean audience and the content has really just gone off the rails for the American audience. I’m no longer interested in it.
Konstantin Baum is the best right now.
Bob Paulinski is good, but his production quality is low and is annoying, but the content is usually pretty good.
V is for VIno is spotty but the best episodes are very good.
No Sediment is also spotty, but there are some interesting episodes.
Matthew Horkey has a lot of blind tastings that are pretty good – it started out pretty rough but is improving.
AttorneySomm - I just can’t get into it for whatever reason.
Trophy Wine Hunter - Canadian focused, not really interesting at all to me

Plus one for Konstantin Baum! He is awesome! I agree, he is the best on YouTube currently! And he it seems he currently works in my family’s hometown, Baden-Baden, at the Brenner Park Hotel’s restaurant as the Wine Director. He is the real deal for sure!

I wish I was part of Wine Library at the time it was a happening…I would not have been a lurker, lol!

Agree with others, Konstantin Baum is great.

I do watch AttorneySomm regularly, though it took me awhile to get used to him and his style. Overall I think he has good info and recommendations, but his quirks (monotonous tone of voice, head slightly turned to the left, abrupt transitions, camera angle, etc.) takes some effort to look past.

I sense an opening in this field.

Agreed that Konstantin is the best out there at present. His blind quizzes on YouTube are also really clever and fun. V is for Vino has been getting better and better with time, and the Rhone episode they just put out is really good. They make you want to travel, and eat, and drink.

Andre Mack is also great, but generally aims for a more mainstream audience. It’s clear he knows his stuff, and I’d love to see him do some content specifically aimed for the enthusiasts too.

I used to like wineking, specially when MW Peter and Patrick were together. I don’t watch him anymore.

I agree currently the best one is Konstantin Baum. Also like Bob Paulinski reviews. Like expert reviews

I like trophy wine hunter and attorney Somm, like wine enthusiasts.

V for vino is good when he travels.

Borat?

For the entertainment factor, @daveswinereview on YouTube. He butchers capsules and rests bottles against his hip or knee when opening some of the most expensive wines in the world, and ends his videos with a cheesy signature move and phrase. He does’t post many videos.

I like AttorneySomm for what his channel is. He just put out a video this morning about Bordeaux under $75 and I will probably fire it up while working tomorrow just to hear if anything interest me. He will point out Chateau’s that have been acquired and are on the upswing and recommend vintages. Also, if someone was just getting in to collecting, he has good videos on how to get started. I will say, I do not think he taste all the wines he discusses. Its more of him doing the research and passing it along. He speaks of scores and descriptors rather than giving his own opinion on many wines. (Its not a bad thing .)

I reached out to him a few months ago about a champagne and he got back to me with not only more info on that bottle but with some other recommendations. So super friendly and accessible also.

Funny thing, yesterday morning my 10 year old was watching one of his videos because its in the YouTube cue at our house. He watched an entire 13 minute video and then started asking me if I had certain wines in my cellar. When I said no he encouraged me to buy them because they were apparently “outstanding.”

Thanks for the feedback. When I started out, I took the advice of younger YT gurus that recommend removing pauses between sentences, which made the videos too fast for my demographic. That is something that has definitely been improved in the past year in my view.

I have done only one video dedicated to Burgundy, and it was top 10 Burgundy for $50 or less. Many of the videos where I have recommendations will have a price point in the title. I do these video at a wide range of price points so there is something for everyone and have done dedicated videos at $15, $20, $25 (two of these) and $30.

My palate and the videos I produce are not on trendy wines in my view, but classics, although I will certainly pass on hot new wines if I try them and think they are of interest.

Cheers!

Thank you for the support and the feedback! I do my best when filming these videos, but started out from square one in terms of my editing knowledge. I was on IG for several years before that, but there was a big learning curve.

I record everything on my iPhone and started out looking at myself rather rather than the eye where you are supposed to look to make it look like you are looking directly into the camera. For that reason, people thought I was reading even though I was not. I corrected that issue, but now sometimes may look to the side to compensate a bit. : ).

I do try very hard to deliver information that adds value for my viewers. I understand it is not for everyone.

Cheers!

Thanks for stopping by to offer comments. I enjoy your videos, and I recommend your channel to lots of folks who are new to wine and are looking for suggestions on what to buy. And as a fellow Illinois grad, I always enjoy seeing the Illinois clock over your right shoulder in (almost) every video.

Thank you! Appreciate the support and the feedback. I definitely try to respond to all comments timely on both YouTube and IG.

You are correct that I do not taste all the wines. I have tasted most of them, however, and in some cases I may have tasted a different vintage. Either way, I always try to add value and include the rankings from all critics so that those who value ratings and/or a score from a particular critic will have them as they consider the discussion.

Cheers!
