Good Source of Slovene/Croatian Wines?

What wine shop in Calif has a good selection of Slovene & Croatian wines. Putting together a tasting.

As a long time wine geek in California who likes Croatian wine, I’d have to say I don’t know of one. Hi Time would carry a few at times.

On line it looks like they have two Croatian and three Slovenian wines right now.

Guessing the better sources will be in the Northeast.

I looked for one when we returned from Slovenia and Croatia earlier this month.

Madison Wine Cellars in Madison, NJ seems to have a nice selection.

I haven’t made it there yet.

Not sure what you mean by “good” selection, but K&L has a few of each.

You might want to reach out to Grgich. If anyone would know, it’s them.

It’s not a brick and mortar, but www.croatianpremiumwine.com ships west coast orders out of EWD in Windsor. You may even be able to just pick up your order at the warehouse. It’s where I get my grk fix.

The owners are responsive and helpful.

Danch and Granger import a solid variety (Meet our Wine Producers - Danch & Granger Selections) I that VintageBerkeley/SolanoCellars carry some wines from them but could be worth emailing to see if there are other retailers

K&L also usually has some stock, as mentioned up thread

If I recall correctly they used to have a broader Slovenian and Croatian range before the name and ownership change took place. Most of the is now on Hungary.

Baltic is good, and would be curious to try some of the wines from Valentan, Štajerska of the Slovenian wines. Milos from Croatia is very good and if Tom source the wines from this importer, sneak in Brkic’s wines from Herzegovina.

Tom, far from CA, but Saratoga wine in upstate NY seems to have a decent wine selection from Slovenia. Movia at more modest prices and Marjan Simcic at higher prices, with a few other producers sprinkled in. Shipping costs tend to be reasonable too.
