What is a good stop while in Napa Valley to taste some good pinot noirs?
Twomey has a tasting room in Calistoga. They focus on PN but are sourcing from Sonoma vineyards.
School House
Rivers Marie
Sonoma
This is the way.
Years ago we met Sam Kaplan and his wife at Arkenstone and he brought along his MAXEM label. They apparently have a tasting room in downtown Napa now which may be a good option or if you plan to visit one of Sam Kaplan’s Napa projects I bet they would be open to sharing some of his MAXEM Pinots as well.
Aubert or Rivers-Marie.
Rivers-Marie or Failla
I’d second Failla. They are largely producing Sonoma PN but happen to be located in Napa North of St. Helena. A pretty good producer!
Ancien.
Update: We did Failla and it was great. Whites, Pinots and even a Gamay. Perfect way to start the morning. Appreciate the recommendations.
